Due to restrictions surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak. Organisers have made the decision to cancel the 2020 Queensland Mining Industry Health and Safety Conference.

The event was previously scheduled to be held from Sunday, August 23 to Wednesday, August 26.

The Queensland Resources Council said the focus would now shift to the 2021 Conference, to be held at The Star Gold Coast, with the theme “Together we Collaborate, Innovate and Educate” . The 2021 Conference will now take place from lunch time on Sunday 22 August to Wednesday 25 August 2021 concluding with the Awards and Gala Dinner that evening.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors and exhibitors for their ongoing support of the conference and we look forward to welcoming them in 2021,”

2020-2021 conference chair Glen Britton said.

“The dates for the call for presentation abstracts and submissions for the Innovation and Health Awards for 2021 will be announced later this year.”
The cancellation follows a bumper year for conference attendance, with more than 960 people joining the event in 2019.

Organisers say the 2021 program, as far as possible, will retain presentations planned for 2020 and the Conference Committee is currently ascertaining the availability of our Keynote Presenters. Mr Britton said further updates on the 2021 Conference could be accessed through the conference website – https://www.qmihsconference.org.au, the conference Facebook page and the LinkedIn page.
